We're going to the mall

To play, ride the carousel and have lunch at Chick-fil-A.

Or should I really admit, we're going to the mall so momma can buy new baby girl her sheet set for the crib. Hee hee.

I'm also going quilt fabric shopping this weekend with my momma to buy the nine different colors and patterns for new baby girl's rag quilt I am making. Mi'Chelle kindly helped me with the planning and I want the girls room to coordinate, so after I get the first one done, I'll make a twin size for Emma. I know, I know, I just purchased the other PBK stuff for her, but I have since changed my mind. Oh and I am thinking of selling the twin Chloe quilt and sheeting for a good price. Email me if interested!

Just so you know, I did this change the whole bedding and room theme scheme twice while pregnant with Emma. Right, MaryEllen? Remember all the crazy paint and two gallons of primer? Emma's old room was originally painted a nice, but really dark sage green and it TOOK FOREVER to prime that puppy and keep the green from showing through. Never, ever paint a room a dark color if you have even the remotest chance of wanting to go light in the future. You'll be priming for an eternity!

Here's the picture of the other schtuff I have in the works.  I am a crazy preggo lady, I know. But it will be completely worth it!

I plan on making the flower toppers in the upper right pic for the window in the girls room. You make them by cutting flower shapes out of quilts and then hang a ribbon ot two from the bottom. And I especially love the pillow with the quilt flowers and ric-rac.

Ok, well, nevermind the pics of Brie's quilt. Apparently I did not save them in gif or whatever. Der. Just trust me on it. It's really cute and has all the colors that will go with the new sheets. I'd link you to her blog, but for whatever reason, when I insert links, they don't work! Any suggestions?

So that's what we're up to lately.

Oh, and I just realized that I have precisely two more days to get my entry for Meesh's circle journal  completed and in the mail to Katy. Yikes!

Recipe for Strawberry Lemonade, as promised.

Strawberry Lemonade

1 (12 oz) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed*

1 (16 oz) container fresh strawberries, stemmed and hulled

1/4 cup powdered sugar

Ice cubes

Prepare lemonade per directions on can.

Process strawberries and powdered sugar in a food processor until smooth, stopping to scrape down sides; stir into lemonade. Serve cold over ice.

Store covered in fridge for up to three days.

*You can substitute a 12 oz can of limeade, if you prefer.

Because I like shiny sparkly things

Momma got some shiny new wheels, and a van to go with them. Hee hee.

My personal favorite thing about it is the power sliding doors. And the heated front seats, which will be lovely come this winter....which around here, lasts approximately 1 month, give or take a few days.

Emma thinks they're neato too, but she absolutely adores the DVD player, which we've already had to set some ground rules. No movies unless its a road trip. So far, so good.

I've yet to really decide what the true color of the van actually is.

Green? Blue? Gray? Depends on the sunlight and angle you're looking at.

It's official color name is Fernstone.

Oh well, I still love it, no matter the color identity crisis. :)

For our monthly Mom & Daughter date, we went to see the film yesterday and thought it was charming and loved the music. Thank you Amazon.com!

And, to celebrate our monkey business outing, I made Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins while she was at school. Mmmmm. (photo courtesy of Rebecca Cooper! I'm good, but not that good!

And since I am in the sharing kindof mood, here's the recipe!

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

1 3/4 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

3 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1 egg

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup milk

3 mashed bananas

Mix all ingredients, fill mini-muffin pans 3/4 full and bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.

Whole lotta flingin' goin' on

The 27 Fling Boogie, that is. :)

For those of you not entirely aware of the FlyLady and her mission, I'm pasting a definition of what a 27 Fling Boogie means:

   

What is a 27 Fling Boogie?

This is a tool to help you declutter your home. Do this assignment as fast as you can. Take a garbage bag and walk through your home and throw away 27 items. Do not stop until you have collected all 27 items. Then close the garbage bag and pitch it. DO NOT LOOK IN IT!!! Just do it. Next, take an empty box and go through your home collecting 27 items to give away. As soon as you finish filling the box, take it to the car. You are less tempted to rescue the items. If you have two of any item and you only need one, get rid of the least desirable.

I think the most difficult task at hand for me simply is decluttering and letting it go. It's all about control. And, boy, do I have issues with control and letting go! :)

Believe me, it was so tempting to sneek a peek into the garbage bag or box after the fact and have "flinger's remorse", but I took the high road, grabbed a twisty-tie, dumped the closed bag into the garbage and sprinted back into the house before I could act upon my remorse finally feeling vindicated.

Apparently, nesting is settling in a wee bit early this time around. But it's gotta get done so that two kiddos can reside comfortably, peaceably and clutter-free in their shared living space. Emma's closet is next....surely I'll be able to 27 Fling about 10 times over. :) Pics to come soon!

She absolutely adores her new quilt and I had to bribe provide an incentive, a.k.a. a fun-size bag of Skittles, to get her to let me wash the silly thing a few days later. I never got the chance to wash it to begin with once Em figured out it was going on her bed. Now we just need the bigger mattress (still shopping around for the best quality/price) and Papa's headboard and we're set.
